Thanksgiving In Syracuse

Thanksgiving In Syracuse

For some, the last three months of fall semester dragged on and for others, thanks to the many assignments, that time flew by. But congratulations, you have made it to Thanksgiving break! Time to sit back, relax, and not think about school for a week, right? Well, some students don’t have the luxury of going home or vacationing this coming week. Some might be too far away, some might not have the money, or maybe they just prefer snowy Syracuse. So how will those students celebrate Thanksgiving? Well, good news, Syracuse has plenty of options for those who couldn’t leave the area but still want to get in the Thanksgiving spirit and eat some delicious food!

For the giving

For the luxurious

Marriott Downtown Syracuse

For $42, you can attend the Marriott Syracuse Downtown Thanksgiving lunch. While it may be on the pricier side, it is held in what is formerly known as Hotel Syracuse – a must-see in the city. The hotel features beautiful architecture and artwork on its walls and ceilings. The buffet will be held Thanksgiving day, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m in the Persian Terrance. Marriott Syracuse Downtown is located at 100 E. Onondaga St.

For the cheap-but-still-want-to-eat-turkey

If $42 is out of your price range but you don’t want to miss out on the Thanksgiving fixings, there are several restaurants in the area that will be open on Thanksgiving day for dinner. Two of the cheapest options are: Fireside Inn and Tassone’s.

For $18.99, you can eat a plated Thanksgiving dinner at Fireside Inn, 2347 W. Genesee Road, Baldwinsville, from noon to 4 p.m.

For $17.99, Tassone’s Wine Garden, 8113 Dexter Parkway, Baldwinsville, will host an all-you-can-eat dinner from noon to 6 p.m. If you’re not a fan of the traditional turkey dinner, they are also offering a limited version of their regular menu.

For friends

If you are lucky enough that your friends are still in Syracuse for break too, get together for a Friendsgiving dinner! Even if it’s just a few people, it’s always nice to be in company of loved ones during the holidays. Each person brings a dish or two, something simple, for everyone to share. Is cooking a turkey too intimidating? Try a chicken instead, or have people pitch in to buy a cooked turkey from Wegmans.

For the shopper

https://static.pexels.com/photos/5956/gift-brown-shopping-market.jpgA big part of Thanksgiving celebrations is Black Friday. Maybe choose a relaxing Thanksgiving by yourself so you can mentally prepare yourself for the rush of shoppers on Black Friday. Many stores are open after dinner on Thanksgiving until the early hours of the morning and reopen on Friday morning. There is no doubt Destiny USA will be very crowded, so get there early! Check out Syracuse.com‘s complete list of stores open on Thanksgiving night and Black Friday and their list of big name stores that will be closed on Thanksgiving.

For the “I’m so broke”
