Getting Your Vision Board Ready For 2018

Visualizing your goals will help you in the process of reaching them. Many of us are visually inclined, and a vision board is a great tool to help us get from point A to point B. A vision board can be used for pretty much any aspect of your life. The purpose of your board is to be a representation of what you want to attract.

When you’re ready to get started with your vision board, it’s likely that you have a million ideas in your head. Don’t get overwhelmed. Your vision board is going to bring you clarity. The process of creating this visual inspiration for your future is going to be fun, challenging, and eye-opening.

BRAINSTORM

The first thing you need to do before you jump right into clipping, copying, pasting, and posting is to brainstorm. Get a clear idea of what you’re creating the vision board for and what you want your vision board to say. This step is vital to the success of your board. Without brainstorming, you may end up all over the place and eventually not reach your goal. Setting your intentions is key in serving a purpose. A great place to start is to begin writing down words that describe what you want to accomplish.

INSPIRATION

The point of brainstorming before you seek out your photos, fabrics, or other visual representation is so that you don’t get lost in someone else’s vision. After you’ve completed brainstorming seek out the pieces that will ultimately make up your vision board. Pinterest is full of vision boards and ideas from other people. This is great for inspiration but you don’t want their vision to end up on your vision board. Seek out magazines and other outlets to help you gain inspiration of where you want your vision board to take you. For this step, you should look in areas that you’re naturally drawn to such as magazines and websites you love. You can refer to your brainstorming to lead you in the right direction.

DESIGN

Now that you’ve got all of the pieces together it’s time to design and layout your vision board. The best part about creating your vision board is that there are no guidelines and no rules. It’s your vision! When you’re designing your layout,  just do what feels right. You know what is visually and aesthetically pleasing to you. While you’re doing this, think about how the design makes you feel. The vision board should evoke emotions such as ambition and motivation, depending on what your end goal is. Remember, you want to create this vision board with the purpose and intentions of getting to something final.

After your vision board is complete make sure you place it in an area that you’ll see daily. You created this board with the intention of accomplishing something. The board’s purpose is to be a constant reminder of where you are and where you’re going. This is the vision you’ve created for yourself. Seeing the board daily sets your intentions for the day and for whatever tasks you’re setting out to accomplish.
