Public Relations: Boot Camp and Capstone 2013

BOOT CAMP

The incoming Public Relations graduate students spent an intense, six week Boot Camp learning to write a wide variety of public relations materials and mastering AP Style.  Each student created and produced a portfolio-quality media kit based on a real company and non-profit organization partnering on a ficticious event.  Four of the media kits were chosen to become the subjects of four news conferences that were held in the I-3 Center in Newhouse III.  All four news conference teams fielded questions from student "reporters" during a Q&A session.   All of the news conferences were video taped.  News conference team leaders were Lasse Jepsen, "We're all Winners"; Nieves Alvarez, "Give by Gucci"; Lexi LaFleur, "The One: Kobe vs. Lebron"; and Tyler Flynn, "One Cup for Change".

CAPSTONE/INTERNSHIPS

Outgoing PR students in the professional track must complete internships to complete the program. These students found internships and jobs at places including Edelman New York, Travers Collins, Ithaca College, Twist Marketing (a W20 Group), Hager Sharp, Weber Shandwick, and the National Museum of American History.
