5 Things To Do In Syracuse For Halloween

Halloween time is right around the corner: watching the actual Halloweentown movies, eating candy corn, and trying to think of the costume you can wear for the Halloween party. But let’s not forget about what this holiday is all about—ACTUALLY GETTING SCARED TO YOUR CORE! There’s so much going on at this time of the year around Syracuse with plenty for you and your friends to do. The exhilaration is the best part of the whole experience. You’ll have laughs to last you a lifetime plus, and you’ll be with all your friends making memories. Here are a few places to get your heart jumping out of your chest:

  1. Demon Acres   is a haunted house experience with four different things to do! You can choose to go to the Depths of the Dark haunted hayride ($12), the interactive Jail Break house ($8), the Insane Asylum audio experience ($5/person) or the Demon’s Den walk-through haunted house ($14). Or, you can pay $25 for the whole experience. They’re open every Friday starting on October 6th.
  2. 13th Hour Rising  is a haunted hayride where you will be descending into a 20-foot tunnel of Disturbia. There are spirits, live executions, pyro and you, going into a chamber of hysteria. This will definitely make you scream for your life! It’s $20 for the whole package and starts rides on October 6th.
  3. Field of Horrors has a new attraction called the Toxic Terror where you will be underground going through a system of tunnels fighting off toxic creatures that are trying to mutate you. It has one of the highest “Fright Factors” at the park and is only $25!
  4. At the Syracuse Fairgrounds they turn the entire area into a scare-sight with 5 haunted houses! They’re open every Friday-Sunday in October and it’s only $10 for a single-house ticket or $25 for all 5 houses!
  5. And if you’re looking for something a little bit more light, try out Abbott Farms. They have a flashlight corn maze where you can bring your own flashlight and get through the maze, and have a wagon ride every Friday night. It’s only $8 to do!

I mean, who doesn’t like to get a little scared, am I right? Of course if you’re too afraid, don’t push yourself into going because some attractions are extremely life-like and nobody wants you to get hurt physically or to have a bad experience. If you don’t like the screams and scares of going to a Haunted House or being in dark, enclosed spaces, there are still other things available as well!

You can go trick-or-treating with some of your younger family or friend’s family to make them feel less scared (and get free candy).

You can stay at home with friends, pop some popcorn, and watch some comedic scary movies.

Or, you can even just have a Halloween party, where you and your friends dress up and dance all night! Whatever you pick, I hope you have fun and eats lots of candy! It’s another fun holiday with an excuse to be your younger self again.
