I scream, you scream, we all scream..for ICE CREAM!
We have made it to the last week of boot camp (scary considering it feels I was just welcoming everyone to Newhouse yesterday)! To celebrate, Food.com will be hosting an ice cream social tomorrow from 12-2:30pm. Since summer is winding down so quickly, and ice cream is one of (if not THE) best parts of warm weather, it's appropriate to dedicate a post entirely to great ice cream.
There are three immediate places near Syracuse that offer "out of this world" homemade ice cream:
Gannons Ice Cream: Awarded "Best Ice Cream" by the Syracuse New Times, Gannons has been established since 1982. In addition to homemade flavors such as sea salt and pumpkin, Gannons also offers sorbets and soft serve ice cream. With three different locations, Gannons is only a short drive from Syracuse University.
Arctic Island: If you're looking for a place to enjoy a lunch before dessert, try Broadway Cafe & Arctic Island. They offer a delicious menu as well as homemade ice cream to top it off!
Kimberly's Ice Cream: In my opinion, the BEST of all the options, Kimberly's is located in Manlius, a short drive outside Syracuse. Definitely worth the trip, this adorable ice cream parlor offers homemade ice cream, sorbets, cakes, pies, cupcakes and more! Try the salty dog (a chocolate ice cream with salted caramel swirl and chocolate covered pretzel pieces) or the cookie monster white chocolate (white chocolate ice cream with oreo pieces). If you are really hungry, order The Ultimate (one of every flavor and pictured below!)
You can never have too much ice cream! Check out these places and share your favorite flavor!
