3 Teas You Need To Start Your Mornings This Winter
I love an iced macchiato here and there just as much as the next girl. However, I am an avid tea drinker and normally have about 2-3 cups per day. I always start and end my day with a cup of tea. There are many great health benefits of drinking tea, mental and physical. Depending on the type, teas can boost energy levels and mood, help with weight loss, boost concentration, clarify skin, detoxify, and boost your immune system. Currently, I choose between 3 different teas to start my day. I prepare all of my teas with raw honey as a sweetener and sometimes squeeze a bit of lemon juice.
1. Ginger/Honey Tea – Ginger itself has MANY health benefits. The tea I use is made of crystals derived from raw ginger. The ginger tea helps mostly with your digestive and immune systems. Ginger also helps ease nausea, motion sickness, prevents gas and bloating, and also eases menstrual cramping. Also, if you have a hangover, this tea is amazing. I drink this tea pretty much every day and mix it with another tea sometimes. I also add a little raw honey for sweetener.
2. Yogi Postive Energy Tangerine Tea – This tea is a combination of several herbs including black tea, tulsi leaf (or basil), and lemongrass. This combination supports digestive health, immune system, and promotes stamina. This tea also has citrus additives which are rich in antioxidants. This tea is also sweet because of the combination of lemongrass and citrus, so you don’t necessarily need to add a sweetener.
3. Cranberry Spice – The cranberry spice tea that I drink in the morning is also by Yogi. This particular tea has a probiotic balance as well. This tea is filled with spices that also aid in supporting digestive health and healthy gut flora. Cranberry aids in boosting your immune system as well. In addition to digestive health, this tea is full of antioxidants, helps fight depression, and also prevents plaque and ulcers.
4. Peppermint – With it’s invigorating and warm flavors peppermint tea is great a great way to get your day started during the winter. This tea supports a healthy immune system like some of the other teas mentioned which is great during the winter months. Not only does peppermint tea aid in keeping you healthy but it also relaxes the mind and body. What better way to start your morning than with a cup of peppermint tea to get you going.
All of the teas mentioned support digestive health, which is why I choose to start my day with them. It is important to drink something warm in the morning (some people just opt for warm lemon water). Tea hydrates your body for the day, prepares your digestive system to break down your food properly and keeps a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria your body needs. So in addition to a comforting and warm drink in the mornings, you can have peace of mind that you’re also doing something positive to keep your body healthy.
